Spinnin Records sold out!
As the rumors said before, two of the big majors (Sony and Warner Music) tried to buy europe’s most decisive dance label Spinnin Records. Back in those days, it was completely refused by real or fake reasons.
Maybe it was just a wise financial movement and just tried to lift the selling price because the rumors already said Spinnin has to be sold sooner or later due to the stagnant results.
One of the biggest majors buys one of the biggest indie.
What can we expect now?
The following article only reflects my personal point of view.
If you were follow Spinnin’s marching on it’s road you had to notice that it was on it’s peak around 2012-2014 when EDM was the real deal. Spinnin got most of their support base back then. Since EDM is dead or at least became a less popular genre, Spinnin Records had to take a step to explore new genres. That’s the point where I have to highlight the fact: it’s my very personal opinion, but Spinnin’ failed at this point. They had no consistency with the releases, just pushed out different genre songs like tech house, future house, even some EDM. It was absolutely chaotic and their fanbase also noticed this as you can see it in the comment section at their YouTube channel.
I mean, a big indie has to be versatile, for sure. But if they opened a sublabel (Maxximaze) belonging with the name of Blasterjaxx, they should release the same genres on the same label.
These steps are the actions what showed us that Spinnin Records is on an uncertain road wich lead to the situation they are in now. As officially mentioned, the label costs 100M dollars for Warner, but some of our insider sources said the real price is over 160M euros.
So what can the future brings to us? Maybe the label became a commercial, pop label but it would be a mistake. They still take a huge percentage of europe’s and even the world’s dance scene, so what we can surely expect is some interesting and exciting cooperation between major and indie formations.
